RECITAL INFORMATION

​

MTAC Pomona Valley Branch awards "Music Achievement" trophies for any student who participates in at least 4 out of 7 branch events this year. Student must have actually performed in each event. A "no-show" does not qualify. 

APPLICATION FORM GUIDELINES​

​

  • Each entry needs to be the size of a half sheet. Remove lower half before mailing.
     

  • Mail completed forms and one teacher check made out to MTAC Pomona Valley Branch for the total amount. Allow 4-5 days for mail delivery. Email entries not accepted. 
     

  • Application deadline is JANUARY, 18, 2025 (one week prior to recital date).
    All recital applications and fees must be received by Re
    cital Chair, Brian Glenn, by this date.
    Teachers will be notified b
    y email about recital times. Requests for changes will not be honored after deadline.

     

  • Requests for "first program" or "second program" will be honored for good reason. Make a note at the top of the application form.

RECITAL FEES (except for Seniors)​

Solo Performance:  $15/student

​

Ensemble Performance:  $12/student  
 

No refunds or credits will be given after the APPLICATION / RECITAL FEES DEADLINE.

Each teacher will mail one check for the total amount of their applications made out to MTAC Pomona Valley Branch

REPERTOIRE REQUIREMENT​

​

  • Repertoire requirement is the same as for Certificate of Merit (piano syllabus page 10).
     

  • Solos must be memorized (exception: woodwinds). 
     

  • No "method" book repertoire or arrangements.

​

   *** Inappropriate music will not be programmed.

DRESS CODE​

​

Students are expected to dress appropriately.  Any student not adhering to the branch dress code will not receive credit toward the end-of-year trophy.
(*** Teachers, please speak with parent(s) about the dress code as it is insufficient to only inform the student.)

​

Performers who participate in branch recitals must observe the following:

  • Appropriate recital attire is required for the performance.

  • No casual clothes, jeans, athletic shoes or flip-flops are allowed.

  • For Girls, no casual pants or leggings, no skirt shorter than 1” above the knee with or without tights, and no bare midriff. Dress pants and dress suits are allowed.

  • No gum chewing while performing.

  • Any student not adhering to the dress code will not be given credit toward a trophy for that particular recital date.
